For people in the wrong job, or short every month

A real plan to earn more, built around you.

Pathfinder talks with you the way a good advisor would, researches the work that pays where you live, and gives you a dated plan for doing work you’re good at and don’t dread.

Text or voice. Pause any time. Your plan is usually ready within the hour.

Interview Question 23 Saved

When friends or coworkers ask you for help, what is it usually about?

Spreadsheets, mostly. Budgets, chasing invoices. Sometimes planning an event.

What’s the last thing you sorted out for someone, and how long did it take?Following up: “I’m organised” needs a real example.

Why it exists

Generic career advice doesn’t pay the rent.

“Find your passion” and “update your CV” don’t help when the numbers don’t add up this month. A good plan starts from your real situation, your real skills and the real market where you live.

Example An illustrative case

Take-home pay, office job
$4,100
What the household costs
$5,600
Short every month
−$1,500

A mid-career office manager with two children. She’s the one everyone asks to sort out a budget or untangle an invoice, her job stopped growing years ago, and since the rent went up the numbers no longer add up.

The summary above is what she would tell you in five minutes. What decides her plan is everything it leaves out, and finding that out is the interview’s job.

How it works

From a conversation to a plan you work from.

Four steps. You take part in the first and the last. Everything in between runs on its own, and a second reviewer checks it for wrong numbers and missed rules before it reaches you.

  1. 1

    The interview

A conversation that picks every next question from what it still doesn’t know. It follows up when an answer is vague and checks back with you every few minutes.

    • Fourteen areas, from your skills to your free hours
    • Numbers, budgets, rankings and voice when they fit better than typing
    • It never gives advice mid-interview; it listens first
  2. 2

    Your profile

Everything you said, turned into a clear picture: what you’re best at, what you earn and spend, what blocks you, and what you’d happily do every day. Each line points back to your own words.

    • Facts you stated are kept apart from things it inferred
    • Gaps are listed, never guessed
  3. 3

    Research on your market

A research agent reads the actual pages: local rates, job openings, licensing rules, benefits you may not be claiming. It sees your city and your skills, never your name.

    • Official sources first, then job boards and local marketplaces
    • A second pass attacks the top options for wrong numbers and missed rules
  4. 4

A plan with dates on it

One recommended path and a fallback, broken into tasks that fit your free hours, your family and the days you keep free, with a paid step in the first week.

    • Ready-made messages, price sheets and prompts for each task
    • A coach that re-plans when a week slips

The interview

It asks the second question.

The useful part of an answer is usually one question deeper. Pathfinder asks for the number, the example or the last time it happened, then moves on.

  1. You say“I’m good with numbers.”

It asksWhen did someone last ask you to sort out their numbers, and what did you do?

  2. You say“Money is tight.”

It asksLet’s fill in a monthly budget together. Start with rent or mortgage.

  3. You say“I don’t have much time.”

It asksIf you started something on the side, which hours could you really give it?

  4. You say“I hate my job.”

It asksThink of a work day that flew by. What were you doing?

The plan

Options compared in real numbers, not adjectives.

Every path shows what it costs to start, how many days until the first payment, and how much of the monthly gap it closes by month three. The plan combines paths when one isn’t enough.

  • Freelance bookkeeping for small businessesTwo evenings and Saturday mornings. Starts this week with the client she already has.
  • A part-time remote roleOnce the six-week certificate is done.
  • Savings and credits not yet claimedTo verify with a professional before counting on it.

Illustrative projection for the example case. Real plans use the research findings for your city, and the weekly review compares them with what actually came in. See a full sample report.

Every day after

The plan lives where you work on it.

You sign in, see today’s tasks, tick them off and log what came in. A coach who knows your whole story helps when you’re stuck.

  • TodayOne most-important thing, today’s tasks and a 30-second check-in.
  • MoneyIncome by source and the gap closing month by month.
  • Coach“I’m stuck”, “re-plan my week”, “write this message for me”.
  • Weekly reviewOnce a week: what moved, what stalled, three priorities.
